Dashboard overview

The Dxtra dashboard is your command center for managing your organization's compliance program. This guide explains the layout, navigation, and key sections you'll use daily.

Dashboard layout

The Dxtra dashboard has three main areas:

The left sidebar provides access to all major features and is always visible on desktop.

Main sections (in sidebar order):

  • Home: Dashboard home, compliance snapshot, and quick actions
  • Assurance: Governance structures, technical controls, and audit evidence
  • Assessments: DPIAs, TIAs, LIAs, vendor risk assessments, and compliance evaluations
  • Processors: Register and manage data processors and Data Processing Agreements
  • Tag Management: Privacy-first analytics, JavaScript tags, marketing pixels, and consent-based tag firing
  • Notices, Policies & Agreements: Privacy notices, cookie policies, DPAs, and compliance documents
  • Purposes: Define processing purposes and assign legal bases
  • Consents: Consent collection, cookie banners, and preference management
  • Rights Management: Data subject access, erasure, rectification, and portability requests
  • Data Mapping & Profiling: PII scanning, data flow documentation, and algorithmic profiling
  • Processing Activity Log: GDPR Article 30 records of all processing activities
  • Breach & Incident Report: Data breach reporting, incident response, and regulatory notifications
  • Data Subject Support: AI-powered Help Center, FAQs, and DPO contact information
  • Transparency Center: Public-facing privacy portal for data subjects

Top navigation bar

The top bar is persistent across all dashboard pages and provides quick access to key tools:

  • Search (⌘K) — Full-text search across the application for documents, purposes, processors, assessments, and more
  • Developers — Access API key management, view your Data Controller DID and Secret Key, and link to developer documentation
  • Help (?) — Opens the AI Assistant Help & Support side panel with quick links, suggested questions, troubleshooting, and a chat input with attachment support
  • Notifications (bell icon) — View notification list for rights requests, compliance alerts, and system updates
  • Settings (gear icon) — Access the Settings Hub for organization, profile, team, compliance, and billing configuration
  • Task (+) — Quick action menu with 6 shortcuts:
    1. Upload Document
    2. Onboard Processor
    3. Add Purpose
    4. Create Consent Form
    5. Breach & Incident Reports
    6. Custom FAQ

Main content area

Most pages follow this structure:

  1. Page Title & Breadcrumb showing your current location
  2. Action Buttons to create new items or generate reports
  3. Filters & Search to narrow results
  4. Content List/Detail with your data and documents
  5. Pagination to navigate through large lists

  • DPA management: Upload, review, and track Data Processing Agreements

Tag Management

Configure privacy-first analytics and consent-based tag firing. See Tag Management for setup instructions.

  • Tag Management Domain: Select which domain to configure
  • Tag Manager Login: Authenticate with your Tag Manager account
  • Consent enforcement: Tags fire only when the relevant consent category is granted

Notices, Policies & Agreements

Create and manage compliance documents. See Notices, policies & agreements for the full workflow.

  • Notices: Privacy Overview, Privacy Labels, Privacy Notice (Comprehensive), Cookie & Tracking Technologies Notice, Legal Notice
  • Policies: Employee Privacy Notice, internal policies
  • Agreements: Data Processing Agreements, sub-processor agreements
  • Editor: Split-view document editor with live preview

Purposes

Define and document processing purposes. See Purposes for step-by-step guidance.

  • Create Purpose: Define why you collect specific data
  • Assign Legal Basis: Specify the lawful basis (consent, contract, legitimate interest, etc.)
  • Link Data & Recipients: Specify data categories and third-party recipients
  • Retention Period: Set how long data is kept for each purpose

Consents

Manage consent collection and preferences. See Consents for configuration details.

  • Consent form creation: Design opt-in forms for marketing, cookies, and sensitive data
  • Cookie banners: Configure granular consent with Accept All / Reject All / Settings
  • Preference centers: Allow individuals to modify consent choices
  • Consent records: Timestamped audit trail of all consent events

Rights Management

Handle data subject rights requests. See Rights Management for configuration.

  • Active Services: Toggle individual rights on/off (access, rectify, erasure, portability, object)
  • DSRR History: Track submitted requests with date, type, and status
  • Request Template: Shareable form for data subjects to submit requests
  • Deadline tracking: GDPR one month, CCPA 45 days, and other jurisdiction timelines

Data Mapping & Profiling

Scan for personal data and document data flows. See Data Mapping & Profiling for scan results.

  • File Scan for Personal and Sensitive Data: Scan connected systems for PII
  • Identifier detection: Colored badges showing detected PII types (person, location, date, phone, email)
  • Confidence scoring: Per-file confidence percentage for detected identifiers
  • Profiling & Automated Decisions: Document algorithmic processing activities

Processing Activity Log

Maintain Article 30 compliant records. See Processing Activity Log for details.

  • Chronological activity list: Timestamped entries showing processing events
  • Activity type filters: Filter by Activity Type, Processors, or Date
  • Time range selector: View last 24 hours, 30 days, 6 months, or 12 months
  • Data Subject DID tracking: Link activities to specific data subjects

Breach & Incident Report

Report and track security incidents. See Security & Breach reporting for the reporting workflow.

  • Breach Reports: Registry of all incidents with reference, type, status, risk level, and affected count
  • Multi-step reporting form: Incident Details → Risk & Response → Notifications → Review & Submit
  • Regulatory timelines: GDPR 72-hour, CCPA 45-day, and other notification deadlines
  • DPO assignment: Assign the responsible Data Protection Officer per incident

Data Subject Support

Configure the data subject Help Center. See Data Subject Support for setup.

  • Help Center Report: Visitor analytics with engagement breakdown by section
  • Third Party Service: Status of connected AI services (e.g., OpenAI API)
  • FAQ management: Standard and company-specific FAQs
  • AI-powered Q&A: Automated answers from your configured policies (3 questions/day per data subject)

Transparency Center

Manage your public-facing privacy portal. See Transparency Center for configuration.

  • Portal preview: See the Transparency Center as data subjects see it
  • Content sections: Overview, Notifications, Privacy Notice, Disclosures, Consents
  • Data subject authentication: Magic link email login for full portal access
  • Branding: Custom logo, colors, and organization name

AI Assistant Help & Support

Click the Help (?) icon in the top bar to open the AI Assistant side panel. The AI Assistant has access to your account data and provides contextual help based on your organization's configuration.

Credits

The panel header shows your remaining AI credits (e.g., "19 of 20 remaining") and the next renewal date. Credits renew monthly and the allocation depends on your plan.

AI disclaimer

Responses are generated using AI and may contain mistakes. Always verify critical compliance guidance with a qualified professional.

Two quick-link buttons at the top of the panel:

  • Developer docs — Opens the Dxtra developer documentation
  • Support articles — Opens the Dxtra support knowledge base

Get help

Ask questions about features, setup, and privacy regulations. The panel displays suggested questions to get you started:

  • "How do I set up server-side tracking?"
  • "Can I integrate a custom data processor?"
  • "What information can be displayed in a Consent Form?"

Type your own question in the chat input at the bottom of the panel. You can attach files (including images) using the paperclip icon.

Troubleshoot

Check your account for errors, warnings, and compliance concerns with pre-built prompts:

  • "Are there any errors or warnings on my account?"
  • "Check my compliance status for any concerns"

Report & track issues

Submit bug reports or feature requests and track their progress. Attach screenshots to help the support team understand the issue.

Click Report or track issues → to open the issue tracker. The Reported issues section shows your submitted tickets with:

  • Ticket ID — Linear issue reference (e.g., DXT-339)
  • Status — Current status (In Progress, In Review, Done, etc.)
  • Description — Issue summary
  • Created / Last updated — Timestamps
  • Comments — Thread of support responses with team member names and roles

Click Ask the AI about this issue on any reported issue to get AI-powered context about the ticket status and next steps.

Device support

Dxtra is optimized for desktop browsers. For complex tasks like assessments or data mapping, use a desktop browser.
